Staunton River High School opened in 1964. It is located in southern Bedford County, Virginia. The school has finished renovations on its two original classroom buildings, and has a total of four buildings that house academic classrooms. It also has an office, cafeteria, Agricultural and Technology Education facilities, gymnasiums, auditorium, and library buildings. Staunton River's mascot is the Golden Eagle. Staunton River serves an area of Bedford County that reaches from Stewartsville to Thaxton to Smith Mountain Lake to Bedford.
