Landscaping News
A memorial plaque was purchased this year and the
agriculture/horticulture students placed it in front of the flagpole in
the new memorial garden. A memorial dedication was held on June 1st
to honor those teachers and students who left us too soon.

Over the past five years
SRHS PTSA has provided:
- $250 to
our family and consumer sciences department for sewing patterns
- $1,000
to our choral dept. toward the purchase of new risers
- $1,000
to our art department
- $1,500
to our math dept. toward purchasing graphing calculators
- $1,000
to our band to assist with expenses
- $1,000
to our foreign language dept. to purchase headsets for their
computers
- $1,000
to our English dept. to purchase an industrial printer for computer
networks
- $500 to
our shop for purchasing tools
- More
than $10,500 in book grants given to graduating seniors
Each year the PTSA:

Provides meals for teachers and staff during parent-teacher
conferences

Provides meals for college reps at the College Fair

Sponsors the Baccalaureate
including the speaker, programs, decorations, and refreshments
-
Provides programs and refreshments for fall and spring academic
awards ceremonies
-
Sponsors the after prom party:
approximately $6,000 each
year which includes six months of planning and fundraising to pay
for t-shirts, renting the Lancerlot Sports Complex, decorations,
mailing expenses, hiring a D.J. and other entertainment and food.
- Holds a
safety fair for students and parents with information on drug and
alcohol abuse, suicide prevention, domestic violence prevention,
safe driving and other issues of interest to teens and parents

Sponsors the Arts In Education Reflections Program in literature,
music composition, photography, visual art, dance choreography and
film/video production.

Now every time
you shop at Food Lion you can help raise money for the Staunton River
High School PTSA. Four times a year Food Lion will donate a portion of
all sales from SRHS shoppers back to the PTSA. It does not cost you
anything to participate. All you need is a Food Lion MVP card.

and Save, and click on Register your MVP card. Search for Staunton
