Homework

In third grade, most assignments completed at home will be either class work not completed at school or follow up work assigned to reinforce skills already introduced in class.  Homework should not exceed one hour on most nights.  Please check and sign your child’s assignment pad daily.  There are many reinforcement activities you can do with your child at home to enhance his/her learning.  Listening to your child read for 15 minutes a night, reviewing basic addition/subtraction facts, and preparing your child for the weekly word study tests are excellent reinforcement activities.

Communication

Each Tuesday we will be sending home a Tuesday folder.  This folder will contain any information from the school as well as your child’s work from the previous week.  Please review your child’s work with him/her, sign, and return the folder on Wednesday.  Reviewing this work will help both you and your child monitor their progress.

When your child returns to school following an absence, a written excuse is required.  If your child is leaving school early or going home in a different manner, a note is necessary so approval can be given from the office.  Remember, if your child is going home with a friend, by bus or car, BOTH students must have a note.

Physical Education

Your child will have physical education twice a week with Mrs. Vincent.  Tennis shoes are required for this activity.
