Directions to Massanutten District Schools of Region III

Addresses and phone numbers, should you need help or want to use a GPS system, are listed for each school.

  1. Turner Ashby – 800 North Main Street, Bridgewater 22812-1696  540-828-2008

From I-81, take exit 240 (Bridgewater). Proceed on #257 for 3.4 miles west to the Town of Bridgewater. At the stoplight of #257 and Main Street (beside the Hardee’s), take a right turn and proceed North on Main Street (Rt. # 42) for 1.3 miles. Turner Ashby High School is on the right at the stoplight.

*Interstate 81 to exit 245 (Port Republic Road) *Turn west onto Port Republic Road (Past JMU entrance on right) *Port Republic Road will turn into Maryland Ave *Right onto High Street (Route 42 North) *Left on West Market Street (US 33 West) *Travel 1.2 miles *Thomas Harrison Middle School will be on the left *Proceed past the Middle School, turn left at the next stop light to Garber's Church Road *Travel approx. 3 miles, you will see the new school on the right

  1. Spotswood – 368 Blazer Drive, Penn Laird 22846  540-289-3100

From areas south of Lexington:

Take 81 North towards Harrisonburg.  Take the Rt. 33 E Exit.  Follow 33 East and Spotswood is about 7 miles on the left.

From Charlottesville:

Take Rt. 29 North to Rt. 33 W.  Follow 33 W past Elkton and the school will be on the right about 5 miles past Massanutten Resort.

  1. Broadway – 269 Gobbler Drive, Broadway 22815-9475

Take I-81 North and take the Broadway/Mauzy Exit – At the end of the ramp, take a left, and take the first right onto Rt. 259 West – go 3.8 miles, turn left at the first light, onto Rt. 1421.  The School is on the right a ¼ mile.

 

Directions to Southern Valley District Schools of Region III

  1. Rockbridge County – 143 Greenhouse Road, Lexington 24450-8806  540-463-5555
    1. One possible route - From I-81, turn onto I-64 West (exit #191). Then take the first exit (#55). At the end of the ramp, turn left onto Rt. #11South. Go over the bridge. At the stoplight, take a right onto Greenhouse Road. Take the first left entrance to the football stadium/gym entrances (bus parking lot). Spectator parking is in the main lot in front of the school or across the street (next to the baseball and softball fields).
    2. Probably the simplest route from Forest – Take #501 to Buena Vista. In Buena Vista, take a left at the stoplight at the Hardee’s onto Rt. #60. Stay on Rt. #60 until you hit I-81. Take I-81 North. Take I-64 West. Before you go one mile, take the Lexington/W & L University exit off I-64. At the end of the ramp, turn left and get onto Rt. #11 South. Go to the next stoplight (1/4 mile) and turn right. The school is down this road.

Get on US-250/Richmond Road and continue to follow US-250 East -Merge onto I-81 South toward I-84/Roanoke -Merge onto I-84 South via exit 221 toward Richmond -Take the VA-608 exit (exit 91) toward Fishersville/Stuarts Draft -Turn right onto Tinkling Spring Road -Turn left onto Augusta Farms Road -Make a slight left after 2 miles to stay on Augusta Farms Road -End at Stuarts Draft High School

Paul Hatcher Gymnasium:

1200 North Coalter Street Staunton, VA 24401 From the South- On 81 North take Exit 225- - take a left at end of exit Route 262, Woodrow Wilson Parkway. Continue on 262 until stop light . Take a right(Route 11). At the first Y in the road go to your right. About 2 miles at second Y in road take a left on to Coalter Street. Robert E. Lee is on the left hand side of Coalter pass 2 churches and rescue squad. From the North- On 81 South take exit 225-take a right at end of exit Route 262, Woodrow Wilson Parkway. Continue on 262 until stop light . Take a right(Route 11). At the first Y in the road go to your right. About 2 miles at second Y in road take a left on to Coalter Street. Robert E. Talbott Field (Track):

Lee Tennis Courts:

Lee’s Soccer – Montgomery Hall:

From the North- Take I 81 South, Take Exit 225, at the end of the exit turn right on Route 262 ( Woodrow Wilson Parkway) Go through Stoplight, the through two flashing cautions lights. Next exit toward Stauton Route 250 East( Churchville Aveue.) At stoplight, turn right onto Grubert Ave. Follow Grubert until it deadends at West Beverley Street(254 E) turn left. At next stop light turn right on to Hayes (at Riteaid). Follow Hayes Ave around sharp curve in road to left/stay on same street, passing large building on right . Turn right at next Street (Montgomery Ave.) For Soccer turn right at second entrance. Follow road up hill and soccer fields are on the left.-- From the South;-- Take I 81 North, Take Exit 225, at the end of the exit turn left on Route 262 ( Woodrow Wilson Parkway) Go through Stoplight, the through two flashing cautions lights. Next exit toward Stauton Route 250 East( Churchville Aveue.) At stoplight, turn right onto Grubert Ave. Follow Grubert until it deadends at West Beverley Street(254 E) turn left. At next stop light turn right on to Hayes (at Riteaid). Follow Hayes Ave around sharp curve in road to left/stay on same street, passing large building on right . Turn right at next Street (Montgomery Ave.) For Soccer turn right at secoud entrance. Follow road up hill Soccer fields on the left.

Memorial Stadium – Lee Football:

From the North-- Take I 81 South, Take Exit 225, at the end of the exit turn right on Route 262 ( Woodrow Wilson Parkway) Go through Stoplight, the through two flashing cautions lights. Next exit toward Stauton Route 250 East( Churchville Aveue. At second stoplight, stay in the right hand lane, next to the stone wall. Follow around outside of the park- this will put you on Thornrose Aveue. Turn right at stonegates across from Grace Christian School.(this is the second entrance to the park.) Follow the park road by the Armory and into a large parking lot. The football and Moxie Baseball field are there.-- From the South;-- Take I 81 North, Take Exit 225, at the end of the exit turn left on Route 262 ( Woodrow Wilson Parkway) Go through Stoplight, the through two flashing cautions lights. Next exit toward Stauton Route 250 East( Churchville Aveue. At second stoplight, stay in the right hand lane, next to the stone wall. Follow around outside of the park- this will put you on Thornrose Aveue. Turn right at stonegates across from Grace Christian School.(this is the second entrance to the park.) *Take I-81 South towards Roanoke *Merge onto I-64 via exit 221 toward Richmond *Take the US-340 exit (exit 94) toward Waynesboro / Stuarts Draft *Merge onto US-340 North toward Waynesboro *Turn right onto West Main Street / US-340 *End at Waynesboro High School

  1. Fort Defiance – 195 Fort Defiance Road, Fort Defiance 24437-0038  540-245-5050

Get to I-81 from Lynchburg by taking Rt. 29 North and then either #60 West to Madison Heights or Rt. 6 in Nelson  Co.  Take I-81 North.  Take the Verona Exit.  At stop sign, turn left into Verona.  At 1st stoplight, turn right (Rt. 11)  Go to next stoplight, turn left.  The school is less than 1 mile on the right (middle school is on the left).

 

Directions to Blue Ridge District Schools of Region III

  1. Northside – 6758 Northside High School Road, Roanoke 24019-2828  540-561-8155

Take Rt. 460 West to Roanoke.  At eh Roanoke Civic Center,  take Rt. 581 West (towards the Airport and I-81).  Go past the airport exit.  Take the next exit, the Peters Creek Exit.  Get on the exit, loop around and up onto the bridge and cross Rt. 581.  Go roughly ¼ miles until a church and a large open field are on your right.  Turn right here.  This is Northside High School Road.  The school is at the end of the road.

  1. Wm. Byrd – 2902 Washington Avenue, Vinton 24179-1314  540-890-3090

Take Rt. 460 toward Roanoke.  On this side of Roanoke, take the ramp to your right and get on the parkway going South.  Within only a couple of miles, get off of the Parkway at Rt. 24.  You will want to take Rt. 24 west toward Vinton.  Go about ½ mile and take the 2nd right to go to Wm. Byrd High School. 

  1. Lord Botetourt – 1435 Roanoke Road, Daleville 24083  540-992-1261

Take Rt. 460 West towards Roanoke.  Just before reaching Roanoke, take the by-pass at Bonsack to Rt. 220 North.  This will be at a stoplight where the signs direct you to turn right to reach I-81.  Follow this road until you reach a major intersection.  There will be a Hardee’s on you right near the corner.  Go straight through this stoplight.  You will pass under I-81.  Don’t get on I-81.  Instead go straight.  You are now on Rt. 220 North.  Go roughly one mile, and Lord Botetourt High School is on the Left.

  1. Alleghany – 210 Mountaineer Drive, Covungton 24426-9641  540-863-1700

Take Rt. 460 West towards Roanoke.  Turn right at the Bonsack Exit.  Follow to the intersection of Rt. 220 and I-81.  Go through the light and pick up 220 North.  Go about 30-35 miles towards Clifton Forge.  After going through Iron Gate (about 2 miles) pick up I-64 West towards Covington.  Take Low Moore exit to right and go about tow miles.  Cross over the river.  Alleghany High School is Dead Ahead.
