1. Time yourself when taking a shower and
try to use a shorter time each day.
2. To save more water during a shower, turn off the water when you are
soaping up, and then turn it back on to rinse off.
3. Get a washing machine that has a water and suds attachment.
4. Use a bucket to collect the final rinse water from your washer, and
then use it to refill the washer for your next load of laundry.
5. Wash your clothes wisely, use full loads to save water.
6. Insulate your electric hot water storage tank and pipes, but be
careful not to cover the thermostat.
7. Collect the water that drips from the condensation hose of your air
conditioner, and then use it to water your plants.
8. Test your toilet tank for leaks by placing a few drops of food
coloring in the tank, if the tank is leaking the color will show up in
the bowl.
9. Conserve water when dining out by requesting only the water you need.
10. Use a cup to drink water from a water cooler or fountain.
11. When drinking water from a cup or glass, put the unused portion in
your pet’s water bowl.
12. Don’t defrost food by running water over the food, let it defrost in
the refrigerator, in a bowl of water, or microwave.
