Work-Based Learning Programs

Work-Based Learning (WBL) programs are experiences that give students the opportunity to gain practical everyday experience in a professional work-force environment.  It is the opportunity for a student to take what she has learned in the classroom and apply it in the real world.

Work-Based Learning education experiences are the first opportunity for students to develop skills needed for every day work in an office, to learn how to perform in a professional manner, apply professional skills and talents, develop an understanding of what the future may hold. It is a chance to develop communication and interpersonal skills, to build your knowledge base about a specific field, and to practice a higher level of responsibility and confidence.  There are clear advantages to having an WBL experience under in today’s highly competitive job market. 

Completing a WBL experience not only will bolster a students resume, but will also help them to acquire the essential professional skills that will help in career success; gives stronger credibility in a job interview; sets the student apart from other applicants when it is time to secure a job; and gives an the opportunity to network and make useful professional connections.
