Cooperative Education

Cooperative education (or co-operative education) is a structured method of combining classroom-based education with practical work experience. A cooperative education experience, commonly known as a "co-op", provides academic credit for structured job experience.

If a student desires to participate in the optional co-operative education component of courses Advanced Marketing, Marketing or Sports and Entertainment Marketing, he/she will receive a combination of classroom instruction and will need to accumulate 396 on-the-job (OTJ) hours (for one additional course credit) to 792 (for 2 additional course credits) on-the-job (OTJ) hours of continuous supervised on-the-job training throughout the school year. This training, which takes place in local marketing businesses, is planned, supervised, and documented by the marketing teacher-coordinator.

Successful Course Completion Credit = 1 Course Credit
Successful 396 OTJ hours completed = 1 Additional Course Credit (total 2 credits)
Successful 792 OTJ hours completes = 2 Additional Course Credits (total 3 credits)
