BCPS Social Media Terms of Use

The purpose of Bedford County Public Schools' (BCPS) official social media (Facebook, Instagram & X) accounts is to provide information about our schools, students, and community in a timely and efficient manner. These accounts serve as communication tools designed to inform the public and promote awareness of division activities and initiatives. By engaging with any official BCPS social media page, including official social media pages of any of its schools, you agree to the following terms of service.
Public Commenting
Beginning July 1, 2026, BCPS official social media platforms will no longer allow commenting on posts. In the event a post inadvertently allows comments, once staff is aware, the commenting capability will be removed, as well as any comments that are made on the post.
BCPS social media accounts are intended to function as informational channels and are not designated public forums for discussion, debate, or the submission of public comments. The disabling of comments shall be applied uniformly and without regard to viewpoint or content. Please note that BCPS social media accounts may not be regularly monitored and BCPS encourages anyone with specific questions or concerns involving a school, or division manner, to contact their school principal or the Coordinator of Communications, Mrs. Kristen Eanes ([email protected]). Public comments expressed on BCPS social media pages do not reflect necessarily the opinions and position of the Bedford County School Board and BCPS employees.
Alternative Methods of Communication
Community members who wish to contact Bedford County Public Schools, ask questions, provide feedback, or express concerns may do so through established communication channels, including:
Telephone calls to schools or division offices
Email correspondence with school or division personnel
Public comment opportunities at School Board meetings
Other methods of communication provided by the school division
All posts and correspondence received by BCPS may be subject to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and records retention requirements. As a result, BCPS may be obligated to retain posts and correspondence in its records and/or to disclose them if requested.

The regulation is intended to ensure consistent communication, minimize the spread of misinformation, and direct community feedback through established channels where questions and concerns can be addressed more effectively. Because comments are disabled for all users on official BCPS social media accounts, the division does not engage in viewpoint-based moderation of comments.
