2022-2023 SECONDARY BELL SCHEDULE CHANGE
All middle and high schools in Bedford County Public Schools will move to a seven-period day starting in the 2022-23 school year. The start of the school day will be 8:45 a.m., with dismissal at 3:45 p.m. This will allow for 50-minute instruction periods throughout the day with appropriate transition and lunchtimes. The new schedule can be viewed by clicking on this link.

A common schedule will ensure students will work with their teachers every day, ability to offer more electives, and provide a consistent schedule for students who attend Early College, Central Virginia Governor’s School, Roanoke Valley Governor’s School, the STEM Academy, and Susie G. Gibson Science & Technology Center. Elementary start and end times will not change.

SCHOOL NUTRITION UPDATES

SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM
Bedford County Public Schools is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided at no cost to children 18 years and younger. Click here for additional information.

PANDEMIC ELECTRONIC BENEFIT TRANSFER (P-EBT) PROGRAM
Virginia's P-EBT program has been approved by the USDA to issue benefits for the 2021-2022 school year. Eligibility requirements have changed and benefits will be issued based on revised federal guidelines that schools and students are required to meet. Fewer households are expected to receive the benefit due to most students attending school in person and having access to school meals at no cost. For further information, click on the links below.

SCHOOL BOARD INFORMATION
Update to the previously posted notification for the Bedford County School Board’s special called meeting on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. in the School Board Office conference room located at 311 South Bridge Street, Bedford, VA 24523. 

The purpose of this meeting is to review revisions to the Fiscal Year 2023 budget.

A public hearing has been added before the budget discussion where there will be a 40-minute public comment period with individuals having 4 minutes each to speak for the purpose of public input regarding the consideration of a sale agreement of the Edmund Street Park to the Town of Bedford.  

Anyone wishing to speak on the public hearing topic is advised to sign up with Diana Johnson, Clerk of the Board.
