UPCOMING VACCINE CLINICS FOR RISING 7th & 12th GRADERS:
The
Virginia Department of Health will be coming to each BCPS high school and
middle school to administer necessary vaccines in preparation for the upcoming
school year.
The vaccines available for rising 7th
graders are:
TDap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis)
Meningococcal ACWY (MenACWY)
Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
Parents: Please review the information that is being sent home regarding the
HPV vaccine. Do not sign the HPV consent if you wish to opt your student out of
the HPV Vaccine.

CREDIT-BEARING SUMMER SCHOOL
Registration for the
summer credit-bearing session opened on April 20, 2026. All student
registrations must be completed and paid in full by Wednesday, June 3, 2026. Credit-bearing summer school is open to any student in grades 9-12. The dates for the session are June 8 - July 17, 2026. Please

2026-2027 KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
Kindergarten registration for the 2026-27 school year will begin on March 23, 2026, from 12:00 - 7:00 PM. Families register at their assigned elementary school. Any child who will reach their fifth birthday on or before September 30, 2026, may be registered. Online registration is offered at the links below. Registering for school on time helps every child, teacher, and school to be ready when school begins. Please bring the required documents listed below:

2026-2027 PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION
Preschool application intake will take place both in person and online. Below are the dates of in-person application opportunities throughout the county. Preschool applications will be accepted on the BCPS Preschool Website beginning February 23, 2026. PowerSchool Enrollment will open for 2026-27 preschool students on June 1, 2026.

FREE SUMMER MEALS FOR ELIGIBLE CHILDREN: DIRECT-TO-HOME MEAL BOXES
Bedford County Public Schools is offering Direct-to-Home Meal Boxes for eligible children from May 24, 2026, through August 15, 2026, with breakfast and lunch delivered right to your door. Eligible families must register by 3 p.m. on April 24 to be included in the first delivery group.
Eligible students include those attending participating CEP schools or qualify for free/reduced meals. Even if your child attends summer school or a YMCA program, they may still qualify for meal kits on non-program days. NON-RESIDENT TRANSFER TUITION
We are pleased to share an important update regarding non-resident enrollment for Bedford County Public School that we hope you will share with your friends and family outside of Bedford County!
At the June 2025 School Board Meeting, the BCPS School Board approved a reduction in non-resident transfer tuition. Beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, the annual tuition for non-resident students will be lowered to $500. This new rate is comparable to tuition rates in surrounding school divisions and reflects our commitment to ensuring access and affordability for families who value the high-quality education offered in Bedford County.
In addition, the application deadline for non-resident enrollment has been extended to August 1, 2025, to give families more time to plan and apply. In addition, we will extend the deadline for in-county zone transfers to August 1, 2025. Please note that final approval for transfers is contingent upon staffing and space.

SCHOOL BOARD INFORMATION
The Bedford County School Board will conduct its regular monthly meeting, as well as a Work Session and Public Hearing for Redistricting Westyn Village, on Thursday, May 7, 2026, in the School Administration Office Conference Room at 311 South Bridge Street, Bedford, VA 24523.
The agenda for the 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. portion of the meeting includes staff reports and Informational items. At 6:00 p.m. the Board will pause for public comment and the public hearing portion of the meeting. When those items are complete, the Board will continue with Information, Action, and Consent items, as well as a closed session to discuss personnel and legal matters.
