2025-2026 KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION 

Kindergarten registration begins March 24, 2025 from 12:00-7:00 p.m. Families register at their assigned elementary school. Any child who will be five years old on or before September 30, 2025 may enter Kindergarten.

2025-2026 PRESCHOOL APPLICATION INTAKE

Preschool application intake for the 2025-26 school year will take place February 24 through April 25, 2025.  The preschool application can be accessed on this website starting February 24.  Applications submitted after April 25 will be filled on an as available basis.

2025 CREDIT-BEARING SUMMER SCHOOL

Bedford County Public Schools will once again offer a summer school session using Edmentum’s EdOptions Academy to provide credit-bearing courses. Students may enroll in new courses or retake previous ones. Through EdOptions, students will work with Virginia-certified online teachers who provide both synchronous and asynchronous instruction, as well as additional support during scheduled office hours.

The credit-bearing summer program is open to all students in grades 9–12. The session will run from June 9 to July 18, 2025. Please note that July 4, 2025, will be observed as a holiday for both students and staff.

POWERSCHOOL CYBERSECURITY BREACH 

As we previously communicated, PowerSchool – a cloud-based software vendor used by Bedford County Public Schools – recently experienced a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to certain information in the PowerSchool Student Information System (SIS).
We are reaching out to share more information and next steps that we recently received directly from PowerSchool.


SCHOOL BOARD INFORMATION 

Regular Monthly Meeting - Thursday, April 10, 2025

The Bedford County School Board will conduct its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. in the auditorium at
Susie G. Gibson Science and Technology Center at 600 Edmund Street, Bedford, VA 24523.
The agenda for the 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. portion of the meeting includes staff reports and informational items. At 6:00 p.m., the Board will pause for recognition of students and staff along with a time for public comment. When those items are complete, the Board wil continue with information, action, and consent items, as well as a closed session to discuss personnel and legal matters.
All Board meetings are open to the public and are broadcast via live stream on the school division's YouTube channel. The complete agenda may be accessed on BoardDocs.
