BCPS REDISTRICTING INFORMATION
The Bedford County School Board is collecting information to make an informed decision as to whether redistricting is needed to address enrollment concerns. The enrollment across the division has become unevenly distributed. Some areas are growing while others are experiencing declining enrollment, and as a result, some schools may now be too small to operate efficiently, while others may be nearing or exceeding capacity.
To make a data-driven decision on whether redistricting should be considered, the Bedford County School Board voted at its April 16, 2026, meeting to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a third-party vendor to assess the need for redistricting. At its June 11, 2026, meeting, the School Board awarded the contract to Demographic Analytics Advisors (DAA). DAA is now collecting data from multiple sources, including information provided by the school division, the county planning department, and the state to inform the Board's assessment and any future recommendations.
Next Steps:
August 18, 2026: DAA will participate in a work session with the BCPS School Board at the School Administration Office (SAO) at 5:00 pm.
S
eptember 10, 2026: DAA will present initial information to the School Board at its regularly scheduled meeting.
How to Stay Informed:
BCPS has created a redistricting page on the website to provide updated information as it becomes available.  All presentations and video-recorded meetings, as well as dates and locations to participate in community input, will be linked to this website.

hank you for your partnership as we work together to serve all Bedford County students.
